World Oceans Day :: Dia Mundial dos Oceanos

Today is World Oceans Day and I couldn’t let this day go by without celebrating the beautiful and wonderful planet we all share. As a business owner, it's important for me to reflect on how my decisions impact the environment and what I can do to make Creatureshire more sustainable.

All of our lovely animal jewellery is made from polymer clay, which means it is a plastic. And let’s be honest: plastic is a remarkable material, it is long lasting and it allows us to make remarkable things… I have yet to find another material with the same ability to shape and to work with colour… if you do, give me a shout!

But the same characteristics that make plastic remarkable, also make it problematic. It lasts for a long time and without proper care, it can end up in the oceans and in the creatures we love so much. So I have a request: if you decide to adopt one of our creatures ask yourself if it will be cared for. If the answer is no, that's okay. We don't take it personally! At Creatureshire we believe that conscious buying is key to care for our planet.

Hoje é o Dia Mundial dos Oceanos e não podia deixar passar este dia sem celebrar o belo e maravilhoso mundo que todos partilhamos. Como responsável pelo meu negócio, é importante para mim reflectir sobre o impacto das minhas decisões no ambiente e o que posso fazer para tornar Creatureshire mais sustentável.

Todas as nossas adoráveis peças de bijuteria são feitas de argila polimérica, o que significa que se trata de um plástico. E sejamos honestos: o plástico é um material notável, é duradouro e permite-nos fazer coisas notáveis... Ainda tenho de encontrar outro material com a mesma capacidade de moldar e de trabalhar com cor... se o encontrarem, avisem-me!

Mas as características que tornam o plástico espantoso, também o tornam problemático. Dura muito tempo e sem o devido cuidado, pode acabar nos oceanos e nas criaturas que tanto estimamos. Por isso tenho um pedido a fazer: se decidirem adotar uma das nossas criaturas, perguntem-se se ela vai ser cuidada. Se a resposta for não, não há problema. Não levamos a peito! Em Creatureshire acreditamos que comprar de forma consciente é fundamental para cuidar do nosso planeta.
