I have always had a fascination for barn swallows... I used to observe their nests on verandas and feel amazed by their ability to build with clay. They are the most common species of swallow in the world, migrating to the northern hemisphere to breed in Spring. It is quite amazing to see the young ones at "flight school"... they are a loud bunch that can perform the most amazing aerobatics!
To celebrate this joyous season, I have created these lovely barn swallow earrings, handmade in polymer clay.
It was a joyful process, trying to capture their gracefulness and their beautiful colours. Polymer clay allowed me to make the intricate details, combining dark and light colours ranging from black to almost white (and the beautiful blue). Plus, because they are handmade, each pair is unique, adding to their special charm.
Not only are these earrings a stylish addition to any outfit, they also serve as a tribute to the beauty of nature and the joy of springtime. As we wear them, we are reminded of the magic that surrounds us during this season of renewal and growth.

Sempre tive um fascínio por andorinhas das chaminés. Costumava observar os seus ninhos nos beirais e sinto-me maravilhada com a sua capacidade de construir com argila. São as espécie de andorinha mais comum no mundo, migrando para o hemisfério norte para se reproduzirem na Primavera. É impressionante ver as crias na "escola de voo"... são um grupo de aves barulhentas que conseguem fazer as mais incríveis acrobacias aéreas!
Para celebrar a Primavera, criei estes brincos com andorinhas das chaminés, feitos à mão em massa polimérica.
Foi um processo fantástico, tentar capturar a sua graciosidade e as suas cores. A argila polimérica permite-me fazer detalhes intrincados, combinando tons escuros e claros que vão do preto ao quase branco (e ao belíssimo azul). Além disso, porque serem feitos à mão, cada par é único.
Estes brincos não só são um acessório elegante, como também servem de tributo à natureza e à alegria da Primavera. Quando os usamos, somos recordados da magia que nos rodeia durante esta estação de renovação e crescimento.
