White Rhino :: Rinoceronte Branco

Creatureshire’s jungle is welcoming a new creature, the white rhino! They have been wandering through lush savanna’s and grasslands nibbling on savoury grass. They are majestic and yet inspire some sort of serenity.
The white rhinoceros has two subspecies and is part of the IUCN list of threatened species. While the southern rhinoceros is slowly recovering in terms of numbers, the northern rhinoceros is nearly extinct mainly due to poaching. It is saddening how such a strong animal has become so fragile.
It took me a long time to create the rhinos. I wanted to capture their strength but also the tranquillity they transmit. I looked into their shapes, their habitats and made a lot of doodles. In the end they came out as brooches and earrings and I even tried to paint grasslands where they could live. Do you like them?
